Literature Text

Once they roamed our land free and brave
Now they suffer poor and enslaved
Yet the warrior’s spirit still lives on
Fighting for and building a new nation
You built a white man’s nation
On your blood sweat and determination

Soldiers and uranium miners
Code-talkers and building skyscrapers
Firefighters, nurses and policemen
Lawyers, doctors and politicians
You chart a new course for the future

Native Workers built this land
Native Workers make it run
Native workers don’t bow to the man
Native Workers will stand as one

No more masters of their homeland
They toil under the thumb of white man
But the Native working spirit never dies
You set an example in children’s eyes
Working your fingers to the bone
You carved your new legacy in stone

Defeated in battle, not in spirit
Your pride they wound but never kill it
Gaming makes a profit but only goes so far
For you have already raised a mighty bar

Native Workers built this land
Native Workers make it run
Native workers don’t bow to the man
Native Workers will stand as one

Your people have suffered long and hard
And the future is always bleak and in doubt
But you fought and worked for your rights
You will rise, for strength is in your heart!

Native Workers built this land
Native Workers make it run
Native workers don’t bow to the man
Native Workers will stand as one
(repeat)

Native Workers never back down
Native Workers never mess around
For they have the strength within
Native Workers will always win!
Okay, so I'm a big fan of Celtic punk music. So this idea popped in my head a while ago, and I thought it could work. Obviously, there's not music to this song (yet), and while it might certainly be strange for a white-boy Celtic punk band to discuss subjects they're not familiar with, the genre's mainly-working class and underdog themes go perfect with the subject of Native American workers, so, here we are!
